There are 52 Pieces of Heart in Majora’s Mask, and every four of them make a new Heart Container. Add the three hearts you start with and the four containers dropped by the bosses, and collecting them all raises your health to 20 hearts. This page lists every piece by region with how to reach it, the day or hour it needs and the masks and items you must bring. The count is for the N64 game, and the few places where the 3DS version swaps a piece for a bottle are called out.

Clock Town (16 pieces)
Clock Town hides sixteen pieces, more than any other region, and most are mini-games, mask events and Deku Scrub trades that only need the first few masks. Start here, since the Deku Mask and the rupees you earn pay for much of the rest.
1. South Clock Town – Clock Tower Balcony
Where: the wooden balcony in front of the Clock Tower in South Clock Town. When: any day, any hour, in the same cycle that you pick up the Moon’s Tear. Needs: Deku Mask, Moon’s Tear.
How to get it: (1) Learn the Bombers’ secret code and walk through the hideout in East Clock Town to the Astral Observatory. (2) Look through the telescope toward the Moon and watch a Moon’s Tear fall. (3) Pick it up in the crater just outside the Observatory. (4) Go back to South Clock Town and give it to the Business Scrub who sits in the flower beside the Clock Tower; he hands you the Land Title Deed and leaves his Deku Flower behind. (5) As Deku Link, jump into the empty flower and glide to the ledge above the Clock Tower doors, where the piece sits. The whole route is laid out in the opening chapter. The Moon’s Tear and the deed vanish when you play the Song of Time, so repeat the loop if you need a new deed later; the piece you already took stays yours. The deed also starts the Title Deed chain below, which pays four more pieces.
2. West Clock Town – Post Office Counting Game
Where: the Post Office in West Clock Town. When: the First or Second Day, from 3 PM to midnight. Needs: nothing, though the Bunny Hood makes it easy.
How to get it: Talk to the Postman at his counter and accept his “mental training”. A hidden stopwatch starts and you press A when you think exactly 10.00 seconds have gone by. Without the Bunny Hood the numbers disappear after a couple of seconds, so you have to count in your head; with it the display stays on screen and you only need to press A at the right moment. Each try costs 2 rupees, but if you walk out and back in you get a free try again. The Postman has no game on the Final Day, so finish it before then. 3. Stock Pot Inn – Restroom Hand
Where: the restroom of the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town. When: midnight to 6 AM, on any night of the cycle. Needs: one paper item: the Land Title Deed, the Letter to Kafei or the Special Delivery to Mama.
How to get it: The inn is locked at night, so open the door with the Room Key from Anju, or as Deku Link hop into the Deku Flower outside the inn and glide to the upper door. Make your way to the restroom, where a hand called ??? reaches out of the toilet and asks for paper. Open the item screen, set your paper on a C button and hand it over. The hand takes the item and gives you a Piece of Heart. Paper you can spare is the Land Title Deed (you can fetch a new one every cycle) or the Letter to Kafei if you are not using it in the Anju and Kafei quest. 4. North Clock Town – Deku Scrub Playground
Where: the fenced Deku Scrub Playground in North Clock Town. When: 6 AM to 10 PM on the First, Second and Final Day of one cycle. Needs: Deku Mask, 10 rupees for each try.
How to get it: Put on the Deku Mask, talk to the scrub who runs the playground and pay 10 rupees. You hop and fly across platforms using the flowers and beat the record time set for that day; the layout changes each day. Beating it on the First and Second Day pays 50 rupees each. On the Final Day the third win gives the Piece of Heart. If you fail a day you can try again for another 10 rupees, but you must win all three days within one cycle. 5. North Clock Town – Tree
Where: the tree beside the slide structure at the Deku Scrub Playground in North Clock Town. When: any time. Needs: nothing, but you must be in Hylian form.
How to get it: As Hylian Link, climb the wooden platform beside the slide, then jump across to the nearby tree instead of sliding down and take the piece. If you are a Deku or Goron the jump does not work, so change back first. The route is also in the Clock Town chapter.
6. West Clock Town – Swordsman’s School
Where: the Swordsman’s School in West Clock Town. When: any time the school is open, on any day. Needs: 10 rupees and a sword (jump attacks).
How to get it: Talk to the swordsman once, then pay 10 rupees and choose the hardest course. Ten logs stand in the room. Lock on to each log with Z and hit it with a jump attack. Each log is worth 3 points, so you need all ten for the perfect 30. Retry as often as you like for another 10 rupees each time. See the Clock Town chapter.
7. West Clock Town – Rosa Sisters
Where: the courtyard in West Clock Town where the Rosa Sisters rehearse. When: the First or Second Night. Needs: Kamaro’s Mask.
How to get it: Kamaro appears on a mushroom-shaped rock in Termina Field between midnight and 6 AM; play him the Song of Healing as Hylian Link to get the mask. Then go to the Rosa Sisters at night, wear the mask and stand in front of them. Press B to dance and keep going until they ask you to teach them and copy your steps. They finish their routine and reward you with the piece, and the Bombers’ Notebook fills in a page. The full errand is in Kamaro’s Mask and the Rosa Sisters section.
8. Clock Town – Mailbox
Where: any mailbox in Clock Town, North, South, East and West. When: from 6 PM on the Final Day. Needs: the Postman’s Hat.
How to get it: Complete the first half of the Anju and Kafei chain until you hold the Special Delivery to Mama. After 6 PM on the Final Day give it to the Postman at the Post Office, follow him as he delivers it to the Milk Bar and then talk to him outside to receive the hat. Put it on and look into the mailboxes around town: the first mailbox you open holds the Piece of Heart. The Postman’s Hat and Madame Aroma’s bottle both need the same letter, so you can only pick one reward per cycle.
9. East Clock Town – Town Shooting Gallery
Where: the Town Shooting Gallery in East Clock Town. When: 6 AM to 10 PM. Needs: Hero’s Bow, 20 rupees a game.
How to get it: Pay 20 rupees and shoot every red Octorok that pops up, while avoiding the blue ones, which cost you time. Score 40 or more on your first win and the owner gives you the next quiver upgrade instead (the Large Quiver, or the Largest Quiver if the Swamp gallery already gave you the Large one). Play again and aim for a perfect score of 50; the piece is the prize for that perfect run. The bow comes from Woodfall Temple, so this one waits until after the first dungeon. 10. East Clock Town – Honey & Darling’s Shop
Where: Honey & Darling’s Shop in East Clock Town. When: 6 AM to 10 PM, closing earlier on the Final Day, all three days in one cycle. Needs: Bombchu, bombs and the Hero’s Bow, 10 rupees a game.
How to get it: A different game runs each day and each costs 10 rupees. On the First Day you blow up the targets with Bombchu (buy them at the Bomb Shop). On the Second Day you throw bombs into the baskets. On the Final Day you shoot targets with the bow. You need a perfect result each day. The First and Second Day wins pay 50 rupees each, and the Final Day win gives the piece. You must win on all three days of one cycle, so if you miss a day, play the Song of Time and start again from the First Day.
11. East Clock Town – Treasure Chest Shop
Where: the Treasure Chest Shop in East Clock Town. When: 6 AM to 10 PM, closing earlier on the Final Day. Needs: Goron Mask, 30 rupees.
How to get it: Enter as Goron Link, pay 30 rupees and the shopkeeper lets you into the chest room. Reach the chest before time runs out. The prize depends on your form, and the Goron prize is the Piece of Heart. The other forms cost less: Hylian 20, Deku 10, Zora 5. See Mini-Games for the full price table.
12. Stock Pot Inn – Anju’s Grandmother (Story 1)
Where: the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town, in the room where Anju’s Grandmother sits. When: daytime of the First or Second Day. Needs: All-Night Mask.
How to get it: The All-Night Mask goes on sale at the Curiosity Shop for 500 rupees on the night of the Final Day, and you need the Giant’s Wallet and the old lady saved from Sakon to buy it, so you collect this piece in a later cycle. In daylight on the First or Second Day, wear the mask, sit with the grandmother and say yes to her first story, about the Carnival of Time. When she asks her question at the end, choose the top answer. She gives you the piece. Without the mask you fall asleep during the story and miss the question. 13. Stock Pot Inn – Anju’s Grandmother (Story 2)
Where: the same room in the Stock Pot Inn. When: daytime of the First or Second Day, after the first story. Needs: All-Night Mask.
How to get it: Stay for her second story, about the Four Giants of Termina, still wearing the All-Night Mask. At the end she asks a question; answer “I dunno”. She gives you a second Piece of Heart.
14. East Clock Town – Mayor’s Residence
Where: the Mayor’s Residence in East Clock Town, in the meeting room on the left. When: from 10 AM into the evening (arrive before 6 PM to be safe). Needs: Couple’s Mask.
How to get it: Finish the Anju and Kafei quest and you receive the Couple’s Mask at about 4:30 AM on the Final Day when the couple finally meet in the inn. Play the Song of Time to return to the First Day; you keep the Couple’s Mask. The Mayor’s office opens at 10 AM, after the time when the previous cycle would have ended. In the new cycle, go into the Mayor’s Residence, enter the meeting room where Mayor Dotour and his advisers are arguing, and put the mask on. They calm down, the meeting ends and the Mayor gives you the Piece of Heart. The meeting runs from 10 AM into the evening, so arrive well before 6 PM.
15. West Clock Town – Bank
Where: the Bank in West Clock Town (on the N64; the 3DS moves it to South Clock Town). When: any time the bank is open. Needs: 5,000 rupees deposited in total across all cycles.
How to get it: Talk to the banker and deposit rupees; the bank keeps a running total of everything you have ever deposited, and you can withdraw again at any time without losing the count. A total of 200 earns the Adult Wallet (200 rupees), and a total of 5,000 earns the Piece of Heart. Deposits survive the Song of Time, so spread them across cycles. 16. North Clock Town – Keaton Quiz
Where: the ring of moving grass in North Clock Town, near the playground. When: any day after you own the mask. Needs: Keaton Mask.
How to get it: The Man from the Curiosity Shop gives you the Keaton Mask free on the Final Day, together with the Special Delivery to Mama, if you did not save the old lady from Sakon on the First Night. Put it on and cut the grass that moves by itself. A Keaton spirit asks you five questions about people and events in the game, and one wrong answer ends the quiz. The piece comes the first time you answer all five. The same quiz also appears on Milk Road and in Mountain Village after spring. The questions are on Keaton Quiz.
Termina Field (5 pieces)
The five field pieces sit in grottoes and holes, plus one scrub who sells his piece.
17. Termina Field – Astral Observatory Business Scrub
Where: a hole just outside the Astral Observatory in Termina Field. When: after you hand the Moon’s Tear to the Clock Town scrub. Needs: the Adult Wallet, 150 rupees (or 100 after you haggle), and a Magic Bean if the fence is in your way.
How to get it: Give the Moon’s Tear to the Business Scrub in South Clock Town first, then go to the Observatory through the Bombers’ hideout. The Observatory telescope shows the Business Scrub going into a hole just outside the Observatory. Go out to that hole and drop in. He sells you a Piece of Heart for 150 rupees. Say no once and the price falls to 100; refuse again and he leaves until the next cycle, so carry at least 150 before you talk to him. If the fence outside the Observatory stops you on foot, buy a Magic Bean from the Deku Scrub in the swamp, plant it outside the Observatory, water it with the Song of Storms and ride the plant over the fence. You need the Adult Wallet, because the starting wallet cannot hold that much. This piece is shown in the Clock Town chapter and in Hidden Hole Locations.
18. Termina Field – Peahat Grotto
Where: Termina Field, near the entrance to Milk Road. When: 6 AM to 6 PM only. Needs: any sword.
How to get it: Go in daylight, walk the path toward Milk Road and follow the butterflies hovering over a patch of tall grass. Drop into the hole and defeat the Peahat inside. When it dies, a chest appears with the Piece of Heart. See Peahat grotto.
19. Termina Field – Dodongo Grotto
Where: a hole in the open in the north of Termina Field. When: any time. Needs: bombs.
How to get it: Head into Termina Field and look for the hole out in the open in the north of the field. Drop in. Two large Dodongos wait inside, so back away and throw bombs at them. When both are dead a chest appears with the Piece of Heart. See Dodongo grotto.
20. Termina Field – Water Grotto
Where: a boulder-sealed hole near the fence to Great Bay Coast in western Termina Field. When: any time. Needs: bombs (or Goron pound), Hero’s Bow, Zora Mask.
How to get it: Blow up the boulder or pound it as Goron Link. Inside is a pool with beehives hanging over the water. Shoot the beehives down, then dive as Zora Link and open the chest at the bottom, which holds the piece. See Hidden Hole Locations.
21. Termina Field – Four Gossip Stone Grottoes
Where: four grottoes, one on each side of Termina Field. When: any time. Needs: Deku, Goron or Zora Mask and the matching song.
How to get it: The four grottoes are hidden around the edges of the field. Each one holds a large Gossip Stone and several small ones. Wear one mask and play its song to the large stone in all four grottoes: the Sonata of Awakening as Deku Link, the Goron Lullaby as Goron Link or New Wave Bossa Nova as Zora Link. The same song must be played in each one. The piece comes when the fourth stone is done. The Mask of Truth lets you hear what the stones say, but it is not required. Doing it again later pays a silver rupee. See Hidden Hole Locations for the four entrances.
Romani Ranch (1 piece)
One piece lives in the ranch, at the dog track.
22. Romani Ranch – Doggy Racetrack
Where: the Doggy Racetrack at Romani Ranch. When: any day, during the track’s open hours. Needs: rupees to bet (50 is enough); the Mask of Truth helps. Reach the ranch by clearing the Milk Road boulder.
How to get it: Blast the boulder on Milk Road with a Powder Keg and walk to the ranch. Bet on a dog and win back 150 rupees or more in a single race. Put on the Mask of Truth first. It shows each dog’s thoughts, and a confident “Ruff!” is a good sign. The Mask of Truth comes from the Swamp Spider House (see Swamp Spider House). Southern Swamp, Deku Palace and Woodfall (7 pieces)
The swamp region holds seven pieces. Do the Pictograph Contest before you clear Woodfall Temple; the boat cruise only opens after it.
23. Southern Swamp – Road Tree Top
Where: the big vine-covered tree along the Road to Southern Swamp. When: any time. Needs: nothing, but Deku bubbles or arrows help.
How to get it: Do not run past the tree. A Bad Bat sits beside the piece. Shoot it with a Deku bubble or an arrow, then climb the vine to the top and take the piece. See the swamp chapter.
24. Southern Swamp – Swamp Tourist Center Roof
Where: the roof of the Swamp Tourist Center. When: any time in the same cycle. Needs: Deku Mask, Land Title Deed.
How to get it: In Clock Town get the Land Title Deed (see piece 1). Outside the Tourist Center, give it to the Business Scrub, who hands over the Swamp Title Deed and leaves his Deku Flower behind. Step into the flower as Deku Link, launch and glide onto the roof, where the piece sits. Keep the Swamp Title Deed, because it starts the next trades in the Title Deed chain. See the swamp chapter.
25. Southern Swamp – Pictograph Contest
Where: the Swamp Tourist Center. When: before you clear Woodfall Temple. Needs: Pictograph Box.
How to get it: Heal Koume and take the free boat cruise she offers to get the Pictograph Box, then take a clear photo of the Deku King in his throne room or of Tingle floating over the swamp. Hand the photo to the man at the Tourist Center. A picture of a Deku King or Tingle wins the Piece of Heart. The contest ends the moment you beat Odolwa, so hand in the photo before you clear the temple. See the swamp chapter and Southern Swamp and Deku Palace.
26. Southern Swamp – Koume’s Boat Cruise
Where: the boat ride at the Swamp Tourist Center. When: after Woodfall Temple is cleared. Needs: Hero’s Bow.
How to get it: Once the poison is gone, Koume offers a boat ride. Ride the boat and shoot targets with the bow while she flies past on her broom. Hit at least 20 targets for the Piece of Heart; hitting Koume ten times ends the game. The N64 game gives the piece here, while the 3DS version gives a bottle. See the swamp chapter.
27. Southern Swamp – Swamp Shooting Gallery
Where: the Swamp Shooting Gallery on the road to the swamp. When: 6 AM to 10 PM. Needs: Hero’s Bow, 20 rupees a game.
How to get it: Different targets are worth different points. The first time you win you receive a quiver upgrade, the Large Quiver or the Largest Quiver if the Town gallery already gave you the Large one. Play again and score at least 2,180 within the time limit for the piece. See the swamp chapter.
28. Deku Palace – Inner Garden
Where: the left Inner Palace Garden of Deku Palace. When: any time you can reach the throne room. Needs: Deku Mask.
How to get it: After the throne room, enter the left garden as Deku Link. Cross each hedge section by waiting for the guards to turn away and running through the tall grass. If a guard sees you, you have to start over. Keep going until you reach the piece at the far end. See the swamp chapter.
29. Woodfall – Chest on the Flower Circuit
Where: Woodfall, on the way to the temple. When: any time; it can wait until after the temple. Needs: Deku Mask.
How to get it: From the owl statue, use the Deku Flower to float from flower to flower around the edge of the poisoned water as Deku Link. Watch for the nuts spat by the Mad Scrubs and open the chest at the end for the piece. See the swamp chapter.
Snowhead and Mountain Village (4 pieces)
Four pieces lie around the mountains, and two of them wait until the thaw that follows Snowhead Temple.
30. Goron Village – Business Scrub
Where: the Business Scrub in Goron Village. When: any time in the same cycle. Needs: Deku Mask, Swamp Title Deed.
How to get it: Talk to the scrub as Deku Link and give him the Swamp Title Deed. He hands over the Mountain Title Deed and leaves his flower. Step into the flower, launch to the ledge above and pick up the piece. Keep the Mountain Title Deed for the next trade in the Title Deed chain. See Snowhead.
31. Mountain Village – Thawed Lake Chest
Where: the thawed lake on the road to Goron Village, near the Twin Islands. When: after Snowhead Temple is cleared and spring returns. Needs: Zora Mask.
How to get it: Clear Snowhead Temple so the snow melts. Follow the path toward Goron Village to the lake. Dive as Zora Link, swim down and open the chest on the bottom of the lake for the piece. See the spring section.
32. Road to Snowhead – Invisible Ice Platforms
Where: the ravine on the Road to Snowhead. When: after you hold the Hookshot. Needs: Goron Mask, Lens of Truth, Hookshot, Scarecrow’s Song.
How to get it: Roll across as Goron Link and use the Lens of Truth to see the hidden ice platforms. When Tatl glows blue, play the Scarecrow’s Song and Hookshot the scarecrow to reach the piece. If you fall you can try again. See the road to Snowhead.
33. Mountain Village – Frog Choir
Where: the pond in Mountain Village. When: spring, after Snowhead Temple. Needs: Don Gero’s Mask.
How to get it: Don Gero’s Mask lets you speak with frogs. Wear it and talk to the frog on the lily pad in the pond once spring returns. Then find four more frogs: one by the Laundry Pool in Clock Town, one on a log in the Southern Swamp, one in Woodfall Temple after the Gekko fight and one in Great Bay Temple after its Gekko fight. Then return to the pond and conduct the choir; it pays you with the piece. See Don Gero’s Mask.
Great Bay (10 pieces)
The Great Bay region has ten pieces, the most after Clock Town; the Zora Hall jam session has to be done before Great Bay Temple is cleared.
34. Great Bay Coast – Marine Research Lab Aquarium
Where: the Marine Research Lab on Great Bay Coast. When: any time. Needs: empty bottles, and live fish.
How to get it: Catch fish in bottles, climb on top of the small aquarium next to the door and pour them in. The big fish eats the others and spits out the piece. Bring four to seven fish, depending on which one gets fed. See the Great Bay chapter.
35. Zora Cape – Waterfall Basin
Where: the pool at the foot of the Zora Cape waterfall. When: any time. Needs: Zora Mask.
How to get it: Dive into the water at the waterfall at the east end of the cape. A Like Like waits at the bottom; defeat it with arrows or your electric barrier and it drops the piece. See the Great Bay chapter.
36. Zora Cape – Beaver Race Rematch
Where: the waterfall rapids above Zora Cape. When: after you hold the Hookshot. Needs: Zora Mask, Hookshot.
How to get it: Hookshot the palm trees up the stream to reach the rapids. Race the little brother through 20 rings in under two minutes, then the big brother through 25 rings; the second win gives you an Empty Bottle. Race both again against a tighter time limit to earn the piece. See the Great Bay chapter and Bottle Locations.
37. Zora Hall – Jam Session
Where: Zora Hall. When: before you clear Great Bay Temple. Needs: Zora Mask, Ocarina, Hookshot to reach the top level.
How to get it: Read Mikau’s diary as Zora Link to learn the score; use the Hookshot to reach the ledge above the drummer’s room. Visit Japas, who plays bass, and trade four-note phrases with him. Then go to Evan’s room, take off the Zora Mask, and play the finished tune on the Ocarina. Evan likes it so much that he claims it as his own and pays you with the piece. See the Great Bay chapter.
38. Zora Hall – Lulu’s Room Business Scrub
Where: the Business Scrub in Lulu’s room in Zora Hall. When: any time in the same cycle. Needs: Goron Mask, Deku Mask, Mountain Title Deed.
How to get it: As Goron Link, trade the Mountain Title Deed to the scrub for the Ocean Title Deed. Switch to Deku Link, use the flower and launch to the ledge above the room for the piece. Keep the Ocean Title Deed for the scrub in Ikana. See the Great Bay chapter.
39. Pirates’ Fortress – Cage
Where: inside Pirates’ Fortress. When: any time. Needs: Zora Mask, Goron Mask; Bunny Hood or Goron roll.
How to get it: Get into Pirates’ Fortress as Zora Link by the route in the Great Bay chapter. Upstairs, break the barrels that cover a floor switch. Step on the switch and run into the cage before it closes: wear the Bunny Hood or roll as Goron Link to cover the distance in time. The piece is inside. See the Great Bay chapter.
40. Pinnacle Rock – Seahorse
Where: Pinnacle Rock, off Great Bay Coast. When: any time. Needs: Pictograph Box, Zora Mask, Empty Bottle.
How to get it: Take a pictograph of a Gerudo pirate in the fortress and show it to the fisherman, who gives you a seahorse in a bottle. Dive at Pinnacle Rock as Zora Link, release it and follow it through the tunnels. Defeat all the sea snakes you meet with your electric barrier. When the snakes are gone, the seahorse’s mate appears and thanks you with the piece. See the Great Bay chapter.
41. Great Bay Coast – Scarecrow Platform
Where: the northeastern shore of Great Bay Coast. When: any time you hold the Hookshot. Needs: Hookshot, Magic Bean, water, Scarecrow’s Song.
How to get it: Hookshot up the stone pillars, plant a Magic Bean in the soft soil and water it with a bottle of water or the Song of Storms. Climb the bean, play the Scarecrow’s Song when Tatl turns blue, and Hookshot the scarecrow to reach the piece. See the Great Bay chapter.
42. Oceanside Spider House – Skull Mask Puzzle
Where: the Oceanside Spider House on Great Bay Coast. When: any time. Needs: Captain’s Hat, Hero’s Bow, bombs, Hookshot.
How to get it: Put on the Captain’s Hat and talk to the Stalchildren in the library and the dining room, who tell you the order of the skull masks. Shoot the masks on the dining room wall in that order with arrows. The fireplace opens; go through it for the piece. See Oceanside Spider House and the Great Bay chapter.
43. Great Bay Coast – Fisherman’s Jumping Game
Where: the Fisherman’s jumping game on the Great Bay coast. When: after Great Bay Temple is cleared in the current cycle; approximately 7 AM to 4 PM or 7 PM to 4 AM (N64). Needs: 20 rupees.
How to get it: After you defeat Gyorg, talk to the fisherman. Pay 20 rupees and jump between the platforms to score 20 points. In the N64 version, he offers both a daytime session (about 7 AM to 4 PM) and a night session (about 7 PM to 4 AM). Arrive within a session rather than at its closing time. See the Great Bay chapter.
Ikana Canyon (5 pieces)
Ikana holds five pieces on the N64. The 3DS adds a sixth from Dampe, which swaps with an Empty Bottle in the original.
44. Ikana Graveyard – Night 2 Grave
Where: the south of Ikana Graveyard. When: the Second Night. Needs: Captain’s Hat, Lens of Truth, bombs, Fire Arrows.
How to get it: Wear the Captain’s Hat and talk to the Stalchildren circling a grave. Order them to open it on Night 2. Jump in and use the Lens of Truth to find the invisible path across the cavern. Light the braziers with Fire Arrows to unseal the far door, bomb the cracked wall on the left and defeat the Iron Knuckle behind it. A chest appears with the piece. See the Ikana chapter.
45. Ikana Canyon – Business Scrub
Where: beside Sakon’s Hideout in Ikana Canyon. When: any time in the same cycle. Needs: Zora Mask, Deku Mask, Ocean Title Deed.
How to get it: As Zora Link, give the scrub the Ocean Title Deed and receive a Huge Rupee (200 rupees). Use his flower as Deku Link to reach the piece. See the Ikana chapter.
46. Ikana Canyon – Spirit House
Where: the Spirit House in Ikana Canyon, up a path to the left of the Music Box House. When: any time. Needs: Hero’s Bow, 30 rupees.
How to get it: Pay 30 rupees. Defeat the four Poe Sisters within three minutes while keeping more than three hearts, or the match ends. The last sister, Meg, splits into copies and only the real one can be hurt: shoot her with arrows. Finish in time and you earn the piece. See the Ikana chapter.
47. Ancient Castle of Ikana – Pillar Top
Where: the roof of the Ancient Castle of Ikana. When: any time. Needs: Deku Mask, Hero’s Bow, Fire Arrows to open the doors.
How to get it: Enter the castle wearing the Gibdo Mask, the Captain’s Hat or Garo’s Mask so the ReDeads dance instead of grabbing you. Shoot Fire Arrows at the two frozen eyes above the pillars to unseal the doors and take the north door past the Blue Bubbles. Fly to the central switch above the courtyard with the Deku Flowers to open a hole. On the castle roof, shoot the crystal switch to put out the flames for a moment, then hop between the pillars with the Deku Flowers to the last pillar. The piece is on the top. See the Ikana chapter.
48. Ikana Canyon – Secret Shrine
Where: the Secret Shrine behind the waterfall in Ikana Canyon. When: late in the game. Needs: Light Arrows and 16 hearts.
How to get it: Swim upriver and shoot the sun above the waterfall door with a Light Arrow. Inside, four rooms each hold a returning mini-boss and pay a silver rupee; each room asks for more hearts than the last, up to 16 for the last. When all four fall, the shrine’s keeper gives you the Piece of Heart. See the Ikana chapter.
The Moon (4 pieces)
Each of the four trial dungeons on the Moon hides one piece, and a Moon child takes masks to let you in and the same number again when you leave.
49. Moon – Deku Trial
Where: the Deku dungeon on the Moon. When: once you reach the Moon. Needs: Deku Mask; 1 mask on entry and 1 on exit.
How to get it: Give the child wearing Odolwa’s Remains one mask and put on the Deku Mask. Cross the rotating platforms by hopping from flower to flower. The piece waits near the end. Give one more mask when you leave. See the final chapter.
50. Moon – Goron Trial
Where: the Goron dungeon on the Moon. When: once you reach the Moon. Needs: Goron Mask; 2 masks on entry and 2 on exit.
How to get it: Give the child wearing Goht’s Remains two masks and put on the Goron Mask. Roll along the thin paths with the Goron Mask. The piece is near the end. Give two more masks when you leave. See the final chapter.
51. Moon – Zora Trial
Where: the Zora dungeon on the Moon. When: once you reach the Moon. Needs: Zora Mask; 3 masks on entry and 3 on exit.
How to get it: Give the child wearing Gyorg’s Remains three masks and put on the Zora Mask. Swim through the pipes and open the gates by hitting the crystal switches. The piece waits at the end. Give three more masks when you leave. See the final chapter.
52. Moon – Link Trial
Where: the Link dungeon on the Moon. When: once you reach the Moon. Needs: a sword (the Great Fairy’s Sword helps); 4 masks on entry and 4 on exit.
How to get it: Give the child wearing Twinmold’s Remains four masks and stay in Hylian form. Beat the enemies in each room and work your way through the dungeon. The piece is in the final area. Give four more masks when you leave. See the final chapter.
The Title Deed chain: five pieces in one cycle
Five pieces come from one chain of Business Scrub trades, and every deed is lost when you play the Song of Time, so plan the whole chain for a single cycle. Start by delivering the Moon’s Tear, then carry each deed to the next scrub. Each scrub leaves a Deku Flower behind that carries you to a Piece of Heart, so bring the Deku Mask. Use the Owl Statues and the Song of Soaring to move between regions quickly.

The order matters, because each scrub only accepts the deed from the one before. You need the Deku Mask for every flower, the Goron Mask for the Zora Hall trade and and the Zora Mask for the Ikana trade. If a trade goes wrong, play the Song of Time and start again; the pieces you already collected stay with you. The chain is described stop by stop in the opening chapter, the swamp chapter, the Snowhead chapter, the Great Bay chapter and the Ikana chapter.
Pieces tied to a day or time
Most pieces can be collected whenever you like, but these have a window. Plan the cycle around them and reset with the Song of Time when you miss one. See The Three-Day Cycle for how days and nights work.

Heart Containers from bosses
Each of the four temple bosses drops a full Heart Container once you defeat it. They arrive on top of the pieces and take you from 3 hearts to 7 before any piece is counted. The Boss Guide covers the fights.

Odolwa Heart Container
Where: Odolwa’s arena at the top of Woodfall Temple, behind the Boss Key door. When: any time after the temple’s rooms are cleared; there is no day limit. Needs: the temple’s own items and Boss Key.
How to get it: Bring the Hero’s Bow from the temple and the Boss Key; the Deku Mask helps. Lock on to Odolwa, dodge his attacks and stun him with an arrow or a Deku Nut when he is open, then strike him with your sword. When he is beaten the Heart Container drops first; take it, then step into the light for Odolwa’s Remains and the Oath to Order. See Woodfall Temple and the Boss Guide.
Goht Heart Container
Where: Goht’s arena at the top of Snowhead Temple, behind the Boss Key door. When: any time after the temple’s rooms are cleared; there is no day limit. Needs: the temple’s own items and Boss Key.
How to get it: Bring the Goron Mask, Fire Arrows and the Boss Key. Chase Goht as Goron Link, stun him with a Fire Arrow and strike him when he falls; repeat until he is beaten. Refill magic from the jars along the track and avoid the falling stalactites and his bombs. Take the Heart Container, then step into the light for Goht’s Remains. Gyorg Heart Container
Where: Gyorg’s pool at the top of Great Bay Temple, behind the Boss Key door. When: any time after the temple’s rooms are cleared; there is no day limit. Needs: the temple’s own items and Boss Key.
How to get it: Bring the Zora Mask, the Hookshot or the bow and the Boss Key. Stun Gyorg with an arrow or the Hookshot, then hit him with the Zora barrier as Zora Link; repeat until he falls. Take the Heart Container, then step into the light for Gyorg’s Remains. See Great Bay Temple and the Boss Guide.
Twinmold Heart Container
Where: Twinmold’s arena at the top of the inverted Stone Tower Temple, behind the Boss Key door. When: any time after the temple’s rooms are cleared; there is no day limit. Needs: the temple’s own items and Boss Key.
How to get it: Bring the Giant’s Mask (from the second Eyegore), the Boss Key and plenty of magic. Put on the Giant’s Mask and attack both worms with your sword; if your magic runs out, take the mask off and keep fighting as Hylian Link. When both worms fall, take the Heart Container, then step into the light for Twinmold’s Remains. See Stone Tower Temple and the Boss Guide.
N64 and 3DS differences
Both versions have 52 pieces, but two of them trade places with an Empty Bottle. Koume’s Boat Cruise gives a piece on the N64 and a bottle on the 3DS, while Dampe’s graveyard dig in Ikana gives a bottle on the N64 and the piece on the 3DS. The 3DS also moves the bank to South Clock Town and pays Fishing Hole Passes for the first two Deku Playground and Honey & Darling wins.
