About Us

Zelda Central (ZC) is a fan site dedicated to the Legend of Zelda video game series. Our goal is to deliver quality Legend of Zelda information and news, as well as offer an avenue for fans of the series to connect.

Site History

1999 - After completing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, I created a simple fan page on a platform available at the time (Expage).

2000 - Acquired Zelda64.org and opened "Barry's Zelda: Majora's Mask Site" on Tripod.

2001 - Created Zelda: Oracles Central after the announcement of the Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons games.

2002 - Merged the two websites into one sole web site titled Zelda Central on the Angelfire platform, and shortly after moved the web site to be hosted by a friend who owned a video game review site.

2003 - Opened The Forest Haven, Zelda Central's forums after moving ZC to be hosted by another Legend of Zelda fan site, Zelda Xtreme. Late in the year, Travis, the owner of Zelda Xtreme informed me that he was leaving Zelda Xtreme behind and offered me the opportunity to purchase the ZeldaXtreme.com domain as well as ZeldaCentral.net, and I moved hosting to Asylum1.

2004-2006 offered significant growth to our web site and community. I had focused on growing the community, and the member count for our forums reflected upwards of 20,000 members and the web site was receiving thousands of visitors a day. However, I had been maintaining the web site over a dial-up connection, and the forum database had become too large to download; a recipe for disaster.

In 2007 hosting through Asylum1 fell through suddenly. At the time, I had no backups of new pages of the Zelda Central web site, and the forums database was completely gone. Simply enough, I threw my hands up and quit because I felt as if I had lost all of my years work in building the community.

2010 - Noticed ZeldaCentral.com was available, and registered it.

2018 - Reopened Zelda Central.
