Twilight Princess Items

Twilight Princess features a variety of weapon items and other obtainables. Some of these return from past games, while some of them are brand new. Below you will find each item in the game, along with some basic information for it.


Fishing Rod

Description: A simple rod made by Colin.

Set it to one of your item buttons, and press that button to cast. When the float is pulled down, hook the fish by holding the C stick toward you. You'll know if you did it right if the words "Fish On!" flash onto the screen. Keep doing this until the fish is caught.

Other: The rod does not require the use of bait, but you can use Bee Larva.


Slingshot

Description: Children LOVE this item. You buy it from Sera's Sundries at the beginning of the game as your first weapon.

Hold down the item button the Slingshot is set to, and use the analog stick to aim. You can use L or Z-targeting on nearby enemies.

Other: Can hold up to 50 pellets. You can use pumpkin seeds as a replacement.


Lantern

Description: An essential item that lights the darkness. Coro gives this to you when you first meet him as a money-making gimmick.

Light it with an item button, and press A to put it out. You can light things on fire by pressing the item button.

Other: You must have lantern oil in your lantern to light it. You can hold lantern oil in a bottle.


Bottle

Description: An empty bottle used to store items such as potions and fairies.

Set it to an item button to scoop up certain things (worms and bugs, for example). You can also release fairies and drink potions this way.

Other: In total, there are four collectable bottles in the game. Check out our Bottle Guide for more information.


Gale Boomerang

Description: An enchanted boomering containing the Fairy of Winds. You can this after defeating Ook the Baboon, the mini-boss of the Forest Temple.

hrow it with the item button it's set to to bring items to you or to stun certain enemies. You can use R to lock onto things indicated with a spinning circle of golden triangles.

Other: You can lock onto up to 5 targets at once.


Iron Boots

Description: Iron boots that make you heavier. Mayor Bo gives these to you as his secret to defeating the Gorons in wrestling matches. Don't tell!

Wear the boots by pressing the item button.

Other: You can use these to walk along the bottom of bodies of water (i.e. Lake Hylia or Zora's Domain).


Hawkeye

Description: A sophisticated scope that can zoom in on distant things. Buy this from the Malo Mart in Kakariko Village.

Use by itself with an item button. Use with the Hero's Bow (by pressing R) to zoom in and snipe faraway enemies/objects.

Other: This item is not necessary to complete the game.


Hero's Bow

Description: It's said that this Goron treasure was left behind by a hero of the past. The bow can be found after defeating the mini-boss of the Goron Mines, Dangoro.

Press and hold the item button. Use the analog stick to aim, and release the button to shoot.

Other: With the Big Quiver, you can hold up to 60 arrows. With the Giant Quiver, you can hold up to 100 arrows.


Clawshot

Description: A claw at the end of a long chain. Obtain this after defeating the Deku Toad, mini-boss of the Lakebed Temple.

Hold the item button and use the analog stick to aim. Release the button to fire. You can use the analog stick to move up and down while hanging from the ceiling.

Other: The Clawshot can be used to latch onto walls, ceilings, ivy, etc. as indicated by a spinning circle of golden triangles. You can also use it to stun certain enemies.


Spinner

Description:An ancient machine that allows riders to float over the land. Obtained after defeating Death Sword, mini-boss of the Arbiter's Grounds.

Hop onto the Spinner by using the item button to hover over land or ride along rails. Use A to attack enemies with a spin surge.

Other: You can't ride on the Spinner forever. If you ride it for longer periods of time, it will begin to slow down, and will eventually force you to get off of it.


Ball and Chain

Description: A giant iron ball and chain. Obtained after defeating Darkhammer, the mini-boss of the Snowpeak Ruins.

Hold the item button to swing it. Release to launch the ball.


Dominion Rod

Description: An amazing rod that an infuse ancient statues with life. Obtained after defeating the mini-boss of the Temple of Time, Darknut.

Hold with the item button, aim with the analog stick, and release to gain control over certain statues. You will know this when the statue becomes electrically charged and will move whenever you move.

Other: When in control of a statue, press the item button again to make certain statues swing their weapon and hit whatever is in front of them. Be cautious, since if you are standing in front of the statue, it will inflict damage when the statue hits you.


Double Clawshots

Description: A pair of Clawshots. You receive a second Clawshot (in combination with the first creates the Double Clawshots) after defeating Aeralfos, the mini-boss of the City in the Sky.

Hold the item button and use the analog stick to aim. Release the button to fire. You can use the analog stick to move up and down while hanging from the ceiling. Use the second Clawshot while hanging from the wall or ceiling to fire at another target.

Other: The Double Clawshots can be used to latch onto walls, ceilings, ivy, etc. as indicated by a spinning circle of golden triangles. You can also use it to stun certain enemies.


Horse Call

Description: A whistle that Ilia made just for Epona. The Horse Call eliminates the need to search for a piece of grass to call Epona. Ilia gives this to you after she regains her memory.

Set it to an item button to play Epona's Song and summon her to your side.


Bombs

Descriptions: Normal bombs. You can carry up to 60.

Use with an item button to take one out of the bomb bag, and press A to set it down, or throw it if you're running. Press R when you have the Hero's Bow equipped to combine bombs with arrows.


Water Bombs

Description: Underwater bombs. You can carry up to 30.

Use with an item button to take one out of the bomb bag, and press A to set it down, or throw it if you're running. Press R when you have the Hero's Bow equipped to combine bombs with arrows.


Bomblings

Descriptions: Mobile explosives. You can carry up to 20 bombs.

Set these to an item button. Press it to release a Bombling that will walk forward and explode after a few seconds.


Big Wallet

Description: The wallet given by Agitha to benefactors of the insect kingdom. It can hold up to 600 Rupees. Agitha gives this to you when you give her 1 Golden Bug.


Giant Wallet

Description: The wallet given by Agitha to benefactors of the insect kingdom. It can hold up to 1,000 Rupees. Agitha gives this to you when you give her all 24 Golden Bugs.


Big Quiver

Description: A bigger-than-standard quiver. It can hold up to 60 arrows. The Big Quiver can be won at the STAR Game in Castle Town.


Giant Quiver

Description: A quiver with a huge capacity. It can hold up to 100 arrows. The second time you win the STAR Game at Castle Town, you win the Giant Quiver.


Ordon Sword

Description: Rusl crafted this fine sword. It is inlaid with Ordon goat horns.

Press B to swing the sword, and A to sheathe it.


Master Sword

Description: The blade of evil's bane. Those with evil hearts cannot touch it.


Ordon Shield

Description: A traditional Ordon shield. If you get hit with fire while wearing this shield, it will burn up.

Use L to defend against attacks.


Hylian Shield

Description: A shield with a Hylian crest. It's metal and will never burn. You can buy this shield from the Kakariko Village location of Malo Mart.

Use L to defend against attacks.


Hero's Clothes

Description: Green clothes that were said to have been worn by the hero who long ago saved Hyrule from danger. The Hero's Clothes are acquired when you save the light spirit Faron from twilight.


Zora Armor

Description: Garments made of Zora scales. They let you breathe and swim in water but are weak against fire and ice. These garments were made by King Zora for the hero who would need to be able to breathe underwater.


Magic Armor

Description: Armor that protects it swearer by making Rupees magical. Without Rupees, it impedes movement. You can buy this armor from the Castle Town location of Malo Mart for 598 Rupees.
