Agahnim
Formerly served the king, but has betrayed him by killing him and possessing all of the royal guards. His mission is to capture the princesses and all of the Seven Wise Men to bring forth the power of ultimate destruction.

Evil wizard who tries to take control of the world of Hyrule, but in return, only gets the Dark World in return.

The main character of the game who is send to save Princess Zelda and the land of Hyrule from the clutches of Ganon.

Link's Uncle
On the night the game begins, this guy is called to castle just before Princess Zelda telepathically pleads for help to his nephew, Link. Link heads to find the secret passage to the castle, which he finds along with the fate of his Uncle, death. His Uncle passes him the sword just before his death.

Princess Zelda
Princess of Hyrule who is kidnapped by Ganon. It is the duty of Link to save her along with Hyrule.

Sahasrahla
Sahasrahla is a direct decendant of the Seven Wise Men, who Link meets just before the first dungeon, and gives him the Pegasus Shoes/Boots just after it.
